Importance has to do with results. If something is important, it contributes to your mission, your values, your high priority goals. But if we don't have a clear idea of what is important, of the results we desire in our lives (and business,) we are easily diverted into responding to the urgent. - Excerpt from THE 7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE

![]() 15 years ago today, the first "cyberspace" advertisement appeared on www.HotWired.com, the first online digital magazine and sister of Wired magazine. The ad was for AT&T. Other advertisers weren't sure they wanted to connect with people on such a personal level. SAY WHAT?!!! Very interesting article from Frank D'Angelo who was involved in the whole website advertising "experiment." (Were you also aware that the first use of CLICK HERE! in an online ad resulted in a 78% click through rate?) Avenue 25 is the best graphic designer Phoenix has to offer. Able Tree Care asked us to design a shirt to give to clients. Here's the thing, they wanted a "cool" factor so people wouldn't throw them away, but may actually wear them. Good thinking, Corbett and Gary.

"We'll call it the 'Economic Stimulus Sale!'" Now don't tell us you haven't said or thought something just like this. Of course you have. It was the perfect tie-in with the hottest topic of the year. So who in business hasn't either done or thought of doing a promotion like this? Of course now that it's passe to run any advertising using this now trite element, someone has finally done some research and tells us NOT to use it! AdweekMedia/Harris Poll has just released numbers that show consumers aren't interested in ad pitches that make reference to the economic downturn. According to the poll 12% of respondents found such ads "depressing," 27% found them "manipulative" and 39% had no opinion on the ads. The ads resonated positively with 23% of respondents, who said the spots made the brand "seem more realistic." To quote Shaggy, what we say to Adweek is thanks for the tip but "Like it's too late for that man!" The last I heard we were in an upturn. But if there are any advertisers out there still thinking about running such a campaign, we've got a nice Commodore 64 in the back room for sale. Avenue 25 is one of the leading advertising agencies in Phoenix Arizona. We're the top graphic designer Phoenix has to offer. And we are ranked as a top web designer Phoenix Arizona has to offer. ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted By Rusty- President/CEO on October 8, 2009
We see clients every day who believe if more people just knew about them their sales will skyrocket. For one in ten, that’s generally true. The other 90% need more than that, and most just can’t see that fact for themselves. It’s the “can’t see the forest through the trees” scenario that occurs when you’re too close to something for too long. It’s our job as a full-service advertising, marketing, and website development firm to find these issues and make recommendations as the outside experts. But you know what? Only a few of you will listen. The rest of you will be in denial that your tired logo, that 4-year “old” website design (or that stupid one you did yourself,) the confusing menu board, or your outdated waiting room is costing you more than you can even imagine. People like things that are professional, fresh, exciting, new, edgy and easy to understand. Bring them to an old website and they won’t stay more than 2 seconds (I’ll show you the numbers.) Now how much did it cost you to get that person to visit your website? (I’ll show you the numbers.) And they won’t be back (again, I’ll show you the numbers.) Years ago, I was hired by a large hotel chain as part of a new team to replace almost the entire advertising department. What happened to them? They had the gall to suggest the chain needed a new logo. The short-sighted franchisees had made their millions off of the old logo and demanded the firings. What did that tell us? Don’t make any suggestions! Well sales plummeted and 3 years later, we had a new logo design. Now I see Burger King Corp. has announced they are revamping all 12,000 restaurants. It’ll cost franchisees $300k to $600k each to add the rotating red flame chandeliers, brilliant TV-screen menus and industrial-inspired corrugated metal and brick walls. Burger King needs this upscale, upgrade to compete with the Chipotle’s of the world. The Burger Kings already upgraded have seen a 12% to 30% increase in sales. Customers are coming in instead of driving through now that the place isn’t gross anymore. And when people sit down, they buy more. All I can say is it’s about time. I wonder how many people lost their jobs for being the first to recommend this idea. Don’t even get me started on K-Mart, or should I say Big K? There has been some contention lately within the search engine optimization community on this subject. As Google secretly changes its search ranking algorithm on a regular basis, it leaves us all wondering about things like this until we can either figure it out or until they come clean to us. Well here's Avenue 25's educated position on the subject of reciprocal links, once considered "the more the better" for search engine position... Google considers reciprocal links as neither good nor bad. It depends upon the actual link itself. If the link is from a reputable website and is somewhat related to your website content, then the link is a good link and you should be fine linking back to that website without causing any ranking problems. As long as the links from your website make sense and are relevant or useful to your website visitors, go ahead and link away. But you're probably better off removing the questionable ones. Also, never link to link farm sites. And never pay for a link (unless the other site will place a "do not follow" order in the script so Google doesn't think your doing it for position reasons), but that's another subject. We'll make business happen. ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted By Rob- Senior Art Director on September 3, 2009
Business cards can do much more than simply list your contact information. As the senior art director, I design all aspects of our clients' print materials. Here is one of our recent card designs.
If you're handing out business cards that whisper little more than your name and phone number I'd be happy to discuss what we can do to help your cards sing! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Posted By Rusty- President/CEO on August 28, 2009
According to a YouTube blog post found by our Phoenix website designers, Google’s YouTube website is going to expand their ad partner program beyond the major web media companies. Now amateur video developers can cash in on the advertising program. You just need a video clip that exceeds a certain level of distribution and page views. Ka-ching! And I know of a few interactive advertising agencies who are grateful for the opportunity to target those people viewing your ultra-hot online video! Gotta love phoenix advertising agencies, phoenix ad agencies, phoenix graphic designers, phoenix web designers, az web developers and internet marketing firms!![]() |
